Zoey

Hi Maureen,

Here are the other pictures. We take her out to Castle Island and she loves the car rides and walking around, she loves seeing all the people and the other dogs. As soon as Zoey sees someone and they talk to her she rolls right over so they can scratch her belly. Susan can't stop laughing and thinks she is such a big flirt.  She loves seeing the kids and they love playing with her. Zoey made friends with two little boys and when they see her now they get all excited and run up to her and hug her and kiss her. You can tell she loves the attention. Zoey starts Kindergarten class in two weeks I am sure she will be the top dog in the class. I can't thank you enough we absolutely love her. She has such a great disposition and wins over everyone's heart she meets, Again thank you so much Zoey is the best.

Hi Maureen,

Zoey is now a hefty 11 pounds. She is really an awesome dog. She is so sweet everybody loves her. We just put in the Pet Safe Retainer (its a form of an invisible fence). Zoey has picked up really quick on what she is suppose to do. It will beep before she gets to the area when she gets a little zap. Which we zapped Rolly to make sure it wouldn't hurt Zoey. Rolly bought a new cell phone and it beeps when someone leaves him a message Zoey got up and took off running and kept looking around because she knew where she was suppose to be outside but couldn't figure out the safe zone in the house. Needless to say Rolly will either get a new phone or see if he can change the beeping sound. I have a question Rolly asked me this morning. She is this sweetest and so quiet. We really haven't heard her bark we were wondering what she may sound like. Actually I don't think I have heard her actually barked. She has only whimpered a couple of times but has never really barked. We really can't thank you enough she is really a great dog.

Pokey

Hi Maureen,

Thank you for the useful information on the pup! Pokey is doing wonderfully and is right about 25 pounds now! He is the most adorable puppy and loves to explore. He is a cautious explorer. He is playful and gentle with children and loves other dogs. We can't thank you enough for bringing the sweet little rascal into our lives!! I will send more pictures! Everybody loves Pokey!!

A former co-worker from Montpelier told me he knows your spouse from the jewery store and learned that you have taken on the kennels off rt 2. I wish I was there to help you out getting that together! Congratulations and I hope it all comes together! Please say hi to Lee when you see her!

All the best,

Allie Mei Mei

Hi Maureen,

So sorry it has taken so long to get back with you! Allie MeiMei and I are having a blast together. I love taking her for walks. She is such a trip. Being in the city I must keep her on a leash and as I am walking forward she runs circles around me. I will stop and try to pet her then she darts just to the end of the leash (being as smart as she is she had figured out just how far to go) stops on a dime the runs back the other direction. I pretend to attempt to pet her and she loves it. We do this for a minute and the she comes and lets me pet her. I am laughing the whole time. Anyone watching must think we are both nuts! Maybe we are, but we are happy nuts. We do this the first 10 to 15 minutes of the walk then we get serious about walking like all the other "normal" people. At night our routine is I throw her toy and she jumps off the couch to get it, runs back to the couch, lounges and lands on the couch with her feet on the back of the couch, bounces on her feet standing up! and has never let go of her toy. She gives it to me and I throw it again, only to watch her do it again. It is one of the funnest things I have ever seen.

We are having a horrible cold front here. 10 degrees at night, highs in the teens or twenties during the day. Allie MeiMei LOVES it! Everything is iced over. It is worth a million dollars to watch her run. She will get to going so fast she spins out and goes sideways. Or she will try to stop and slides. I watch her from inside and just laugh. After a while, I beg her to come back in the house. I do not know how long it takes to get frost bite, but she seems not to care. A time or two I have had to throw treats out to lead her back inside. She is a mess.

I love her so. She is a very bright dog and a fantastic companion. You guys did a GREAT job socializing her. She is one of the best things I have done for myself. Thanks!

Lots of love,
Barbara and Allie MeiMei

Tashi

Dear Maureen,

I hope your summer is going well and that the rain has let us at least a little there. We too have had a wet, muggy summer.

I owe you a picture of Tashi and the boys. I must say that Tashi is gorgeous. Everyone on the street stops us and comments how pretty she is. Her golden color is stunning, and she still has the white tips on her tail and paws. She also has a wonderful (amazing!) disposition. She's so friendly and playful and snuggly and easy going. She was spayed last week. We opted not to use the cone of shame and instead put her in onesies (I must admit that I was thrilled to finally get to buy some pink clothing!). She was a real trooper. She let us dress her and never bothered her belly. I think she also loved the attention because she was not out of my sight for one second.

I just wanted to ask you if you planned on extending the family. We thought it would be nice for Tashi to have a playmate, and to introduce the puppy to her before she got to used to running the show. If you are planning on a spring litter, please let us know. I think the timing would work, both in terms of Tashi's age at that point and having the nice weather for housebreaking.

I also have a grooming question. I constantly ask Tashi how she can see with all of that hair in her eyes. Do you trim the hair around the eyes?
I would love to hear how you and your family are doing.

I'll take some pictures and send them to you soon...promise. (I am attaching a photo that Mitch likes).

Mitzi

Hi Maureen,

Attached are some pictures of our Mitzi. We sent the one of Jack holding her - who is horribly allergic to dogs with fur - and as you can see, he has no problem with our Tibetan Terrier!!! We just love her. If you find yourself in Syracuse, we would love for you to see her. Thanks for everything!

Hi Maureen,

Just an update on our Mitzi...
We had her spayed this past week and they were able to repair a hernia she had at the same time.  I have the certificate but don't have your address to mail it to, so if you could send me that, I'll get a copy to you.

Mitzi is the sweetest dog I have ever owned.  She loves people....all people!!!  My mother has threatened to steal her, my sister-in-laws all want an exact copy of her.  My husband's parents even enjoy her, and they aren't dog people.  She has the best temperment I have ever seen in an animal.  We absolutely adore her!!!!

Hope all is well with you.  Keep us posted as to when you plan to have another litter....

Chowder

Hello Maureen,

Chowder is a little bit moody, but still he is a good dog! Chowder and my other dog, Dolly, fight but "play-fight". Chowder can be hyper and really fun. He can jump, run, and when he takes a stuffed animal you can never get him! He runs outside and it's so much fun to chase him. So- if you are reading this right now you have found a fun little puppy to play with - but they do sleep a lot too. Have a nice day.

Wiley

Hi Maureen.

Hope all is well. Just sending you the one year old pic. Wiley's no longer a puppy! Is Molly going to have another litter this year with Tag? I think we both dream of getting Wiley a playmate.

**********

Hi Maureen,

Wiley has been such an amazing addition to our family. His temperament is just wonderful -- he is sweet, gentle, and friendly and outgoing both with other dogs and people. He has also been very good with training, and everyone always marvels at how well behaved he is -- he is able to follow many commands and will rest quietly in a down stay all through dinner when asked. His favorite command, though, is "vacuum", when he comes running to "clean up" some edible tidbit dropped on the kitchen floor. And, of course, there is the obvious fact that he is such a beautiful dog -- we are constantly getting stopped on the street by adoring fans. What else can we say? He's the best!

Batal

Hi Maureen,

You read my mind!!  I was just up loading some pictures. He is awesome. Potty training, no problem. Comes when called, is already sitting when asked. EVERYONE is in love with him. Took him to the vet yesterday and he passed with flying colors. He was apparently in his shell for the first couple of days, he is now out and full of it. He isn’t happy at night because the big dogs sleep on the bed, so yes he has been singing to us for most of the night......he is stuborn beyond belief!

He has his second class tonight so that should tire him out.  He is trying very hard to be alfa. Not a chance with Delilah, she just growls at him, but he keeps trying.  Sam is real sweet with him, but Batal is jumping on his head, walking under him, pulling his tail and biting his nose. Sam is good, he takes it, but mess with Sam’s chewies, then we have a disagreement.

He is my little shadow, and where ever I go he is there. Loves to give hugs, and when he knows Sam is going to go after him, he hides behind me.
We love him so much, and he is just so darn funny.  Right now he is laying on his mat chewing on a spoon!  Lord knows where he got that!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OUR LITTLE SWEETIE!!!

We love him to death!!

Best,
Betsey

Hi Maureen,

Well I have good news and bad news.  Batal is doing great, and is the sweetest guy ever.  Bad news is he thinks he is a toy poodle.....LOL
He doesn't realize he is as big as he is.  He is traveling a lot but he is so good.  The latest trick is he carries Sam around by his harness.  It is really funny.  If Sam hides on him he grabs his top knot or his ears and pulls him out from under the chair.

How are you doing?  Any more pups coming along?

The hair is coming!!!  He gets brushed daily but boy does he love his snow and now MUD.  Man!!!!

Again he is a great boy and we love him with all of our heart.  He is a clown and his nick name is monkey!!!  He has chimpanzee eyes, and you can tell that there is a lot going through that head of his!!!

Thanks so much for writing!  It is so good to hear from you.  Best to you and your family!!!!

Best,
Betsey, Zade, Batal and Sam

Theo

Hi Maureen,

Just wanted to give you an update on Theo, since we recently had our 1yr anniversary with him! He seems to have topped out at about 26 lbs. Still has his long hair, but we trim his eyes and feet. He hasn't used the crate since about 6months old. He has a favorite chair he sleeps in at night, and we don't worry about him when we leave, but are careful not to leave treasured belongings within reach. Hard plastic is his thing. We let him have hangers. He loves them! Theo is the *perfect size. Just right for hugging, not too big for carrying. He loves his walks, loves to "go for a ride", especially to pick up Lydi at school. He is *very popular on the playground. He sits and waits for the kids to come and say hi. They pet him, and can't resist hugging him. Something about all that fur! He loves the attention, and I never worry about him with the kids. He can have 5 kids all over him--from head to tail- and he just loves it. Everyone loves him so much (even Squeak, though he'll never admit to it). Theo has a very sweet and calm personality, and we are lucky to have him. :)

Here is a pic from a couple days ago. Yeah, he likes his sticks big. lol

Zinni

Maureen,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Here is a recent photo of Zinnia Dwyer Smith, a/k/a Miss Flop. We call her that because this is her favorite position and, whether on carpet or tile, she just sort of slides/flops down into it. She doesn't have much dark brindle left, mostly black. However, you can see she has beautiful white and gray and her tail is exquisite. She also has a mind of her own and loves to roll around in the fall leaves, thus tracking them in. She is still the best at being groomed. Thank you for that.

Hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Oscar

Our dog Oscar is sweet. He is very mellow. He loves chewing on bones and other toys. When we take him on walks he’ll find a stick and just start prancing around. I have never seen him nip anyone.

My dog will sleep under my bed at night. He loves to be with us but when were not there he’ll still be just fine. He still goes in the crate when we leave just in case. When we’re not paying attention to him he’ll go in to his crate and just sleep. He was the biggest puppy in the litter. I think he is a big mush. He has baths about once a week and he smells good.

He loves to chase the ball. He makes weird noises when we come home and starts stomping his feet because he is so happy to see us. He gets along with our cat.  He will chase her only if she starts batting his nose with her paw. I love to snuggle my dog. Sometimes I bring him in to my bed and he’ll take up all of the room in my bed. When I try to lie down he’ll give me a little push with his nose. He knows he’s in my space, so I’ll just stare at him then he will kind of look at me in a hesitating way and then he’ll move over. Most of the time he sleeps under my bed. When we go away (like when we went to Lake Placid) and he stays with friends I miss him so much.  If we can’t pick him up right away I’ll get very up set and won’t sleep well because he is not under my bed.  After school I will hug him for about half hour. I love my dog Oscar. He is the best.

Kali

Hi Maureen.
Hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving...

Kali is wonderful. She's grown quite a bit and is very lovable and well adjusted.

She stayed with my sister for a couple of weeks in October when I returned to Greece. She's still in the crate at night and when I leave the house. Otherwise she pretty much has freedom throughout the house. I just need to spend more time having her come on command etc, She adores running on the beach. We have a massive beach 10 minutes away where she can run and run and run. I am amazed at how fast she is. She is extremely confident and loves to play with all the dogs, no matter what size they are. I'm hoping for a mild winter so we can make the most of the beach. No dogs allowed after May 1st.

I am amazed at the speed and agility. Perhaps they were used for herding? She gets dogs to chase her and then does circles and figure eights and no one can catch her. It's wonderful to watch. Also amazed by their beautiful prance.

She now has a white/gray plume tail, still has the white ring around the neck, although diminished, and the lightening bolt on the forehead has almost disappeared. I think I mentioned that I've come across a few Tibetans on the Gloucester Beach. One of which is somehow related to Kali - via the woman in Middlebury. I believe the owner's name is Katherine (I could be wrong) she also used to work for Dennis G. Her dog is white.

Have you heard from the other dogs.owners in the litter?

I hope you are all well and happy and enjoying the season. We're just getting our first snow, and I can just imagine how cold it is up there.

Anyway you've been on my mind so I thought I would just drop you a line and check in. I adore Kali and she has added so much to my life - I am very thankful. Everyone asks where she came from.  Love to know how you, the family and the dogs are.

Stay well.

Bailey

Hi Maureen - sorry I have not been emailing - our summer was really, really crazy. You have been on my to-do list to send some pictures of Bailey. Anyway I didn't want to wait any longer to email you (its their 5th month bday!!). (I promise to try and send them this weekend). You should know that Bailey is a real joy. He is beautiful, his markings are outstanding, and he was a breeze to train. He will go off leash with me in the trails in the woods by our house and never go further than 20 feet without looking back to make sure he is going in the right direction. He is really strong, (but looks so skinny when he is wet - the vet says he's perfect and not to worry he is just in shape! Eric put in an electric fence last week and he is almost trained - so he is getting more freedom, and I really think he is happy in our busy household. So if your kids ever wonder how the puppies are doing tell them he is great !!!!

Hi Maureen – glad all is well with you. Bailey hasn’t really shed at all, but I think that Is because he has had a couple of pretty short hair cuts. He is a very good dog, and he is especially good with my cats. One of our cats brings him gifts- rabbits, snakes, moles etc…. they are usually still alive and it keeps life interesting. I have attached all the pictures we have of him. His temperament is perfect, and he is a good hiker. He did a 7 mile hike a few weeks ago without slowing. We have not trained him in agility or anything – but he can really jump. I guess at some point I will take him back for obedience training but he certainly doesn’t have any big issues. His size ended up being perfect for us and our household. He walks with me every day- and dogs throughout the neighborhood stop and play on a weekly basis. He never shows any aggression to the dogs we meet, he is never timid either and I am not sure that’s always a good thing as I have found there are more aggressive dogs out there then I thought.

His tail still has the kink in it – but I was researching the breed at one point and one of the books I read said that was a trait of this breed – so I don’t think this was a flaw in him just a characteristic you may actually see in future puppies.

Please let me know if you have puppies. I can’t have another dog at this point, but I do run into a lot of people who love Bailey--he is a great advertisement for you!!!!

Carol
New York

PS whenever I drive up from work – the only one who runs up to greet me is the dog!!! And he never complains….. got to love him.

Zibah

Hi Maureen,

We got home at 10:30 last night. Between the puppy and the kids, and 2 major traffic jams... well, we made it. Ceili (we've decided to call her Hepziba or "Zeeba")  did well on the ride and is good on the leash. We took a break in Saratoga Springs and walked around town, and she was quite jaunty. She ate well when we got back and slept through the night by tied next to my bed. My older cat who must have grown up with dogs, has taken Ziba's presence in relative stride. Not just standing her ground, but lying down and allowing her to sniff her feet, and her butt. The other cat has got her back up, and hisses and scratched the puppy once already, so Ziba is keeping her distance. The kids are still sleeping because of the late night and all the excitement when we got home. She really is a good girl and very mellow. She is glad to have her toy and her blanket. We are doing fine.

Thanks for taking so much time with us.

Hi Maureen,

I've been thinking about getting in touch with you to let you know about Zibah.
She is a good dog, we love her very much. She doesn't photograph very well, since she is so black and we're not much in the picture taking department, but I'll see what I can scare up for you.

In terms of her coloring, she is still, as I said, mostly black, but she has white on her chin, neck, chest, belly and paws, and her tail and hind quarters are very mixed gray/black/white, and the tip very white on the tail.

She has white hairs scattered on her back, with a little shock of white at the nape of her neck.
She has a small amount of white around her nose and mustache.

She's a serious dog, and sensitive. She is tolerant, and quiet, though unexpected things will make her bark.
It takes some effort to get her playful, unless she is outside, at the local dog run, and free to do whatever. Then she goes wild, and runs like the wind, outrunning every other dog of any size. She is extremely agile, and can jump straight up.

I would like to do agility training with her, but this is a very busy time for us until July 13. After that, I will see what the schedule of classes is. We do think of you and yours from time to time, and it is fun to think about Zibah's beginnings on the farm.

Thank so much for checking in and for the birthday wishes.
What do you give a dog on their birthday?

Liz and family

Tashi

Tashi has been sleeping in the crate every night. He also spends some time in the crate every day  -- hour or two under different circumstances so he can get used to it. If we leave him alone, it is in the crate. As for housebroken, he had an accident or two during the first week but not since. He was essentially crate trained and housebroken when we picked him up.

We go for long family walks every evening and Noah and Zach run him around for an hour or two each evening before dinner. Most of the time though he is content chewing on a toy or sleeping.

Everyone marvels on how mellow and well behaved he is. He does nip a bit, but we are slowly training him not to do that.

Be well.

Greetings from Cleveland,

Glad to hear that everyone found homes. Tashi continues to be the wonder dog. Mellow when he needs to be. Tashi is still sleeping in his crate and spends a fair amount of time there during the week. Well trained (more him than us). He will sit on command. Also down. We are working on “come.”  He walks well on a long lead and plays very well with all the local dogs. He is playful and fun (almost catlike) when we have the ability to run him around. He is completely housetrained at this point. No accidents in a long time. He is coming to work with me every day. When the kids are off school, and the dog stays with them, everyone in the office is upset. The office has appointed him the VP of Morale.

He is getting big. I would guess that he is around 15 pounds at this point. Kids are also good. They keep talking about how they should have talked us into getting both Tashi and Raspberry.  Zach has fallen in love with one of the Trainers Briards. Tashi is found of him too. They are big dogs though. Much more temperamental than Tashi.

As for shows, there were no convenient puppy matches in the area after the July show. The one September puppy match is at an inconvenient time. Perhaps is October when he is 6 months, we can take him to a real show. Timing just hasn't worked out so far.

Hope you are all well.

Best regards,

Greetings from Cleveland,

Tashi continues to be the best puppy ever. He is learning quickly and endearing himself to people and dogs alike. We travel a lot and Tashi  goes everywhere with us. He spends the day at my office and when my kids had a break from camp and he stayed home with them, everyone at work was upset. We spent the weekend in the Ellicottville NY (the Western New York equivalent of Montpelier). Our friends have a German Wire Hair and an older Australian Shepard. Tashi  followed the Pointer around all weekend and tried hard and insistently to make friends with the Grumpy Shepard. Took most of the weekend for him to win over the Shepard. Funniest moment was when Tashi blindly followed the pointer into a pond and then realized he needed to swim. Quickly swam to shore and rolled himself up in a towel.

Tashi is getting big. Vet told us to slowly up him to a cup of puppy chow a day and he was getting a bit pudgy, so we cut him back. But he always eats every bite of food.

Hope you and the kids and the dogs are well

Dear Maureen,

Been a busy month for us. Tashi is doing great.  I am afraid we are losing the grooming battle with him though. We brush him often – we wet him first -- but he is getting some bad mattes and we may end up with a puppy cut for the summer. He is also walking into things fairly often due to the hair in his eyes. We would have loved to show him, but after attending a few shows and even signing him up for a puppy match, we decided it was too much work for us and not enough fun for him. He is still our mascot at work. I have trained all my colleagues to help train him. He hangs out mostly in my office, but has lunch in the lunchroom with us. He is still a wonder dog. Fast, agile and even tempered and quite mellow. Everyone loves Tashi.

Zach says:
Tashi is so cute  he is very good he has almost never gone in the house. Noah and I love him so much they call him the fluff monster he is very calm when you want him to be and playful when you are we had a old  crate that tashi slept in but he hated it so we got a new one and he loves it he even go’s in when he wants to relax I sometimes take him to my room and read to him. noah will do the same. tashi has a huge pillow in the breakfast room he will just sleep on it we will send you a picture of him we have a great one of him covered  in snow. He is the best!
